Pole International de la Prehistoire
The centre, opened to the public in July 2010, is located in the village of Eyzies-de-Tayac, on the "historic" road linking Périgueux to Sarlat, near the National Museum of Prehistory. At the heart of 400,000 years of human history, it aims to enhance and make accessible to all the public the universal heritage of the Vézère Valley, rich in many major prehistoric sites, fifteen of which are listed as world heritage sites of Unesco. A permanent information and animation centre, the building happily integrates into a high-quality landscape, between cliffs, vegetation and streams. An indoor "street" allows the visitor to walk freely throughout the building. It's up to everyone to imagine their own journey into prehistory. This is the ideal starting point to prepare or start a stay in the "Land of Man".
